Justice itself cannot be partisan. Judicial decisions should not be influenced by the political affiliation of the parties or attorneys before the court. I will be strictly non-partisan when deciding the cases before me.
Be that as it may, Texas elects its judges in partisan elections and the two major political parties use primaries to choose their candidates for the general election.
I am a Democrat. I am proud to be associated with the Democratic Party and I am proud to have worked at the grass roots level to get Democrats elected. Good government is not a spectator sport. I am especially proud to have served my precinct as an election judge and alternate judge to facilitate our most precious right as citizens – the right to vote.
I have never voted in a Republican primary and I have never attended a Libertarian or Green Party convention. I respect the rights of the Republicans, Libertarians and Greens to choose their candidates without outside interference.
I particularly admire the independent voter who takes the time to study the qualifications of each candidate and work the long way down the ballot race by race. It is hard work to be a truly informed voter on every contested race. If you are reading this website, you are trying to be an informed voter. I congratulate you.
